What a game!

I'm always leery of claiming something to be THE BEST EVER without time for a little retrospection. But the Boise State-Oklahoma game may have been the best finish to a college football game I've ever seen. Boise State dominated throughout but then Oklahoma went on a run and eventually tied it (after three straight two point conversion attempts). With about a minute and a half to go Boise throws an INT while driving which Oklahoma returns for a TD. Game Over! Or is it!? Boise State suddenly goes on a ridiculous tear and ends up scoring a touchdown with less than 10 seconds left off a hook and ladder. We have overtime! Boise State wins the toss and goes on defense. Oklahoma scores almost immediately. Boise State is able to respond with their own touchdown. But they're exhausted and they decided to go for two. Quarterback drops back, throws it to a receiver on the right....except he doesn't because the ball isn't in his throwing hand. It's in his left hand behind his back, which the running back grabs and saunters into the endzone for the two point conversion. Game. Set. Match. On the Statue of Liberty play. And now we take a short break for some Wilco lyrics.

Statue of Liberty play
It only works once
Don't throw it away

Also, I missed it because my brother decided to play Final Fantasy XII, but apparently there was a post-game marriage proposal by one of the players to his (reportedly hot) cheerleader girlfriend. I'll look for confirmation on that later. Needless to say, Deadspin has went apoplectic at the conclusion of the game on their message boards. So the 2007 Fiesta Bowl will go down as a classic game in college football. And I'm not afraid to say it.

I'm also not afraid to go to bed, because it's 1:30 in the morning. Night.
