Some Conference Title picks

The first set of conference title games are today. Here's what I think will happen.

Big South: Winthrop at VMI: VMI is the highest scoring team in the country by far. To put it into perspective, they score more than 14 points a game more than #2 on the list North Carolina. It's weaker competition but that's impressive. They'll need all their firepower today as they play Winthrop for a bid to the NCAAs. VMI has actually toned down their tempo in the conference tournament, and the adjusted style helped them beat higher seeded teams Liberty and High Point. Still, the Big South is a very weak conference and Winthrop has proven that they are the class of the conference and that they can be an extremely dangerous matchup for any team in March. Winthrop rolls into the NCAAs. Winthrop 99 VMI 73

Atlantic Sun: East Tennessee State vs Belmont:
Belmont has looked better than the #1 seeded ETSU during this tournament. Fortunately for the Bucs, the tournament has been in Johnson City which gives them a bit of an advantage. I figure this comes down to the wire with ETSU perhaps hitting a late buzzer beater. East Tennessee State 68 Belmont 67

Southern: Davidson vs College of Charleston:
Well we didn't get to see the final everyone wanted of Davidson-Appalachian. And Charleston's win likely knocked App out of the NCAA Tournament but we won't know until Selection Sunday. But we still have to punch the Southern Conference ticket to the dance. I told you Charleston could be a potential dark horse. But I also picked Davidson to win this. I'll stick with my original pick. Davidson 75 Charleston 68

Ohio Valley: Austin Peay vs Eastern Kentucky:
Austin Peay would like to thank Eastern Kentucky for knocking off Tennessee Tech who would have been a much worse matchup. But Eastern Kentucky isn't going to lie down to the #1 seed. Still I have to pick Austin Peay as they have the best cheer in college basketball. LET'S GO PEAY! Austin Peay 69 Eastern Kentucky 67
