Iona is Cursed!

Update on Iona. They went to 0-19 last night. And as the title says, I really think the Gaels are cursed this year. Did they wake up some mummy or something? Their last four games have been decided by a total of 18 points. Three of them were in overtime! Fortunately, they get a couple home games (so Ashley you should go and support them. You're in the area!) so maybe they can finally get off the schneid. They get to play conference leading Loyola (MD) at home followed by a game against Canisius. Although Loyola leads the conference currently, I don't think they're the best team. To me, Siena and Marist are the best teams in the MAAC this year. But their next two games, Iona should have a fighting chance, because after that they go on the road against Siena which I don't think they'll win. So Go Gaels!

Since we're talking about crappy basketball teams, I should mention that on Ken Pomeroy's site
a new team has fallen to last place. I like his ratings the best because they try to measure offensive and defensive efficiency instead of just using points per game as the stat. But anyway, now North Florida is the worst team in college basketball not Iona. Although they are an incredible 2-17, both those wins came against non-Division I teams. They were Concordia (NY) and Skidmore. So they have the same number of D-1 wins as North Florida. 2-17 Prairie View A&M also has no D-1 wins. Here's a list of some web sites and their power rankings of worst teams in college basketball.

Iona 0-19
North Florida 2-17: Last by Ken Pomeroy and Jeff Sagarin's ELO-Chess ranking (doesn't take into account margin of victory)
Maryland- Eastern Shore 3-16: Last by Jeff Sagarin's Predictor (does take into account margin of victory)
Western Illinois 4-16: Last by RPI
